Mindfulness: the psychological process of bringing one’s attention to experiences occurring in the present moment, which one can develop through the practice of meditation and through other training.
As you read this, practice mindfulness….
Take a seat. Take out your phone and set a time limit. Whether it is a single minute or ten.
Notice your body. Sit, kneel, or lay down. Become still in your position.
Feel your breath. Follow the sensation of your breathing as you inhale and exhale.
Allow your mind to wander. Let your mind drift to a peaceful state of mind.
When you feel that you are ready, bring your focus back to your breath.
Inhale… exhale…. inhale…. exhale.
When your time is up, take your time to open your eyes. Breathe and feel your body come back to reality. As you sit up, take a deep breath. Allow yourself to feel as if all life surrounding you has gone still.
Taking one or ten minutes out of your day to practice mindfulness is so beneficial to your mind, body, and soul. Practicing this is practicing the art of creating time and space for ourselves. Take this time and space to breathe, reflect, wander, and relax.
Remember this, we all have mental health. I cannot emphasize enough how important self care is. Everyday, we find ourselves overwhelmed from the stress that fills the atmosphere. Time is always going by, our minds are always thinking of our past or future tasks. It is hard to live in the moment when all we can think about is finishing that homework assignment or studying for that one exam.
Allow yourself to release the tension that consumes your body; let go of the worries that fill your mind. Live in the moment, feel the presence of peace and quiet. Become one with your mind, body, and soul. The connectivity is a wonderous thing. Understanding, supporting, and tapping into this power can lead you to healing as well as manifesting your true desires in life.
